More photo's of my Cheetah during the rebuild in the summer of 99

Well during the last big snowstorm of 99 the track finally wore out and broke on me so I decided that as long as I had to replace the track, I'd also tear it down over the summer and do a few other things that needed to be done to it such as replacing the belly pan while I was at it.  I also plan on installing a full set of accessory gauges that were available as an option and changing the gearing on it to 440 specifications (10/26/99 I've since reconsidered this and will keep the stock gearing).

Here's a couple of shots of the engine

The dash with openings the ready for the gauges.  The tach I ordered from the dealer was the wrong one but I found a NOS correct tach at Haydays.  The cylinder temp gauges are not available from the dealer so I still need to find a set in good shape.  The speedometer was originally in my Puma when I bought it but was the incorrect one for the Puma.

Here's the old belly pan and you can see the hole in the upper left corner.  Also as you can see, it needs a good degreasing from the years of use.

Well since the last update, I've stripped the entire sled down and seperated the bulkhead from the tunnel for painting.  Currently the bulkhead is painted and reattached to the tunnel.  I also shined up the tunnel somewhat with a lot of elbow grease and never dull.  The gas tank has been painted and the suspension has been sandblasted, painted, and new Hyfax's have been attached and is just waiting to go in.  Right now I am waiting on the rest of the parts I need to put the driven clutch back together and install the belly pan.  The ski springs and spindles have been sandblasted and primed and are ready for painting.  Still have quite a ways to go but it's starting to take shape.  Still haven't found the correct seat but I recently purchased a 75 Pantera with a seat in excellent shape that will work for the time being.

Degreased and 99% stripped.

Suspension primered and all painted and ready to go in.

The gas tank in primer ready to paint and the various clutch guards painted and ready to install.

A couple of shots of the engine with the clutch removed waiting to be cleaned up.

Well, time for a little updating.  Plenty of things going on so I haven't been working on it for the last 2 1/2 months.  Found a NOS universal replacement belly pan for it.  The pan came in black primer so I decided to paint it gloss black.  Didn't turn out to be the greatest paint job but after 4 tries of striping, sanding,  and repainting, I gave up and installed it with runs in the paint and all LOL.  Found a 75 track in better shape than the one I had so instead of replacing 46 cleats, I only had to replace 11.  Also found the correct NOS tach at Haydays and have installed it in the dash opening.  Still looking for some decent temp gauges to complete the dash.  The sled is currently about 50% done and back on it's ski's with the drive shaft and track in the tunnel but the suspension still has to go in.
I also finally found a seat in better shape than the one that came with the sled.  This seat has a couple of minor tears and a couple of seams that are seperating but it's a BIG improvement from what I had.  Plans are to have the bad sections replaced at a later date if possible.

Here's some shots of the NOS universal belly pan along with the gas tank

A shot of the dash and ski's all painted.
